Your data, kept small.
Half Time Oranges is a free fan site. We collect as little as we can to keep the games fair, fix mistakes and see which quizzes people enjoy.
The short version
- You can play without an account, a name or an email.
- We count plays and results anonymously. We don't store IP addresses.
- If you submit a team to League History, your name, handle, team and favourite club are public. Your email, if you give one, stays private and is only used for the newsletter.
- We don't sell or share your data, and we don't run ads.
- You can switch off anonymous analytics below at any time.
Switch analytics on or off
This setting is saved in this browser. If you use another device or clear your browser data, set it again there. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, analytics is off automatically.
When you play
Unless you've switched it off, the site records anonymous game events, such as a quiz started, finished or shared, or a Grand Final Glory season played. Each event can include:
- The game, the puzzle and how it went: for example the guesses or answers you entered, hints used, the Grid answers and rarity score, the formation and players you drafted, and where your season finished.
- A random ID made by your browser, so we can count daily and returning players. It isn't linked to your name, email or League History entry.
- Your rough region (such as NSW or New Zealand), worked out from your device's time zone setting, and possibly your country, supplied by our database provider's network. Never your exact location.
- Device type (phone, tablet or computer), local hour and day of the week.
- The website or social post that sent you here, including any campaign tags in the link.
We use this to balance the games, spot puzzles that are too hard or wrong, and see which posts bring people in.
What we don't collect
- We don't store IP addresses in our database.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- No precise location, contacts or anything else from your device.
Saved in your browser
Your stats, streaks, today's progress and your own copy of League History are kept in your browser's local storage so they're there next time. So are the random ID and your analytics setting. They stay on your device and you can clear them in your browser settings at any time.
League History and the newsletter
When you submit a Grand Final Glory team, we save your name, social handle, team, season result, players, favourite club (if you choose one) and the time you submitted. League History is public, so others can see these details.
The email box is optional. If you add your email and tick the newsletter box, we save your email, name, handle and favourite club in a separate private list. We use it only to send the Half Time Oranges newsletter, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Mistake reports
If you use "Spotted a mistake?", we save your message, the page and game, and your device type, so we can fix the quiz. It isn't linked to your random ID. Please don't include personal details.
Services we use
- Website hosting. Like every web host, it may keep short-lived server logs, including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running.
- Supabase stores League History, newsletter sign-ups, mistake reports and anonymous game events.
- Google Fonts supplies the site's typefaces. Your browser fetches them from Google, which can see your IP address when it does.
- Page-view counting: none is switched on.
- Links to Instagram, TikTok and X only share anything with those sites if you click them.
How long we keep it
- Anonymous game events: up to two years.
- Mistake reports: up to one year.
- League History entries: until you ask us to remove them.
- Newsletter emails: until you unsubscribe.
Your choices
- Switch off analytics above, or send a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal from your browser.
- Ask us to remove your League History entry or newsletter email, or to tell you what we hold about you.
- If you're under 16, ask a parent or guardian before entering your email.
